Looking something like a giant industrial insect, the Gotholin recontextualises traditional Classical music tropes into a brutalist steam punk imaginings. The Gotholin is an automated midi to servo controlled violin machine built with aluminium, and fitted with an audio-controlled strobe light, projector and security cameras.

The Gotholin has appeared in various sonic art concerts/performances: The NIS (2009-14); These Compulsive Behaviours (2014); Sono Perception (2008).
Aluminium, robotic actuators, electronic converter boxes, violins, violin bows, various hardware, cables, midi controller (for human performer mode), projector, security camera, lights.
Variable: can be presented in concert and played by a performer; can be installed in a gallery for weeks/months, operating automatically.
